Kathleen Bahr writes stories and poetry for children. Her work has appeared in Babybug, Ladybug, and Spider, and additional pieces are forthcoming in Highlights, Highlights High Five, and Highlights Hello. Kathleen co-authored Scholastic’s 15 Minutes a Day to a Colossal Vocabulary, a professional resource book for classroom teachers. She earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Kansas and a master’s degree in education of the gifted from Teachers College, Columbia University.
As a teacher, Kathleen specialized in science and language arts. She enjoyed helping students feed the class tarantula, dissect owl pellets, and raise painted lady butterflies. But her favorite activity was reading aloud poetry by Shel Silverstein.
Kathleen grew up in Kansas, where she learned how to ride horses and grow giant sunflowers. She lives in Colorado with her husband and daughter. If it’s not snowing, you’ll probably find her bird-watching in the park across the street.
